It’s as much a part of the holiday season as decorating the house and wrapping presents. I’m talking about overeating! Even the most disciplined dieter and fitness fanatic can fall prey to the temptations of the holiday buffet. So how do you keep from undoing all of your calorie counting and hours at the gym between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day? Certified health coach, nutritionist, and author Justine SanFilippo has some tips to keep you and your waistline in check:

1. Workout or go on a long walk before a party or the morning of a holiday.

2. Maintain (or start) an exercise routine during the holiday season.

3. Eat in moderation, especially on Thanksgiving. Healthy portions are key.

4. At the office, you can give in to your cravings…but just a little.

5. Eat early on Thanksgiving so you have time to digest your food before going to bed.

6. Bring your own healthy snacks to work to avoid temptation.

7. Have a healthy meal before going to parties.

8. At parties, stick to a two-drink maximum, or don’t drink at all.

9. It’s okay to say no.

10. Finally, remember that the holiday season is not about eating as much as possible. It’s about spending time with loved ones and being thankful for what you have.
